A very special weekend

Nearly 7 months ago our world changed instantly when Turner Cantrell Satterfield was born into this world. The joy we felt when we laid eyes on our beautiful baby boy was indescribable. Just as special as holding our son for the first time was meeting his birthmother, “C”.

There was such a mix of emotions we never dreamed we’d experience. We were filled with such joy and gratitude for her decision to give us her baby; but, at the same time, we felt such deep pain in knowing how difficult this was for her. We know this decision wasn’t easy for “C”. Her love for our little boy has been a constant reminder of God’s love for us. Despite the enormous pain it caused him, he gave up his only son so that we might have everlasting life. Turner’s birthmother put aside her great pain and grief to do what was best for her son, and made a very similar sacrifice. We never want Turner to forget the unconditional love she had for him at that moment.

Though Turner’s birth mother knows he is loved and is happy, she will always have emptiness in her heart. So will countless other birthmothers who choose adoption. To honor these women’s courage and sacrifice, and to celebrate just how special these kinds of mothers are, our adoption agency will host a Birthmother’s Retreat this weekend. The special weekend will be a celebration of their decision, a time of ministry, healing, and well-deserved pampering.
Please keep these women in your prayers and pray that God will continue to comfort them and give them peace all the days of their lives.

Oh sister! I am teary! What a beautiful post. Your words and heart just amaze me and I am blessed to have you not only as a friend, but as someone to walk alongside in this journey. I praise God for putting you in my path and I believe he planned it years ago with Laura and Katie!

Thank you for this. I love you and can't wait to see you Friday!

Incredible post. Paul and I were actually talking about adoption this week. It is such an amazing gift on both sides. To give someone a child and then to love and care for a child that someone else couldn't. So happy that all is well!

As quoted from a wise friend of mine "We are constantly reminded that we are loved by a busy God. He’s a God constantly working and moving in ways we cannot understand and fathom, working for the good of all who love Him. He does right. He does what is best."
I am so happy that you and John have been blessed with little Turner but cannot fathom the different strings that tug at your hearts as adoptive parents. You will be in my prayers as you travel this amazing journey with God!

This is a beautiful post. Thank you for reminding us of thinking of all involved. It is such a selfless act and it is wonderful when everyone can see how great God is and how everyone benefits from the sacrifice.
