What a week!!!

This week has been the craziest week so far with work. We had our 2 largest fundraisers for St. Jude (shameless plug ...we raised over $1.3 million for the kids at St Jude!) and on top of that, Turner's sitter was on vacation last week so Aunt CC, Grams, and Mom came up for the week to babysit! To say the least, they had a blast which allowed me to focus on work vs having to worry about my little love bug. Thank you so much mom, grams, and Crystal...Turner had so much fun and was crawling around the house this morning wondering where everyone was. We miss you already.

My sweet mom and precious Grandma Rose.

John celebrated his 20 year high school reunion this weekend on top of everything else going on :) This was Turner and his papa getting ready to go to the High School and picnic.

Turner is crazy about his aunt CC. She took him to the zoo, let him play in his pool, and managed to give him lots and lots of sugars.

Saving some sweet potatoes for later :)

Daniela came to visit Turner on a little break one day. She lives in Memphis so we were so glad she could come help us for our St. Jude events. She always talks to Turner in Spanish and he just loves it!

Look at me go! This week Turner is not satisfied with crawling..but instead, he's standing all by himself like a big boy trying so hard to walk without holding our hands. He kept Grandma Rose busy as she's about his size :) and he loved walking with her :)
Turner and Aunt CC had some fun pool time! and even got a surprise visit from a tarantula :) Never a dull moment around the Satterfield house

Turner loves his Mum Mums.
The joke around our house is when John married me he also married St. Jude :) What he does for love! Last Saturday, we had family fun day at the St.Jude Dream Home and my wonderful honey cooked hot dogs all day long and even humored me and let me paint his face. J + C on one side and I love T-man on the other :)

Slobber monkey....maybe a tooth will appear one of these days :)

Looking forward to some serious family time this week and so ready for the long weekend :)

The men in my life

With Father's Day quickly approaching, I wanted to take the opportunity to publicly thank the 3 men in my life!

My dad- what a blessing you not only are to me but to countless others. You have had such a huge impact on who I am today. Thank you for teaching me the importance of God's love, telling us to talk to every one and you will never meet a stranger, believing that laughter is the best medicine, for being me and Crystal's biggest cheerleader....or at least the loudest one, and constantly encouraging me to follow my dreams! You live your life with no regrets and never miss a chance to tell us how much we mean to you. You are truly a man of God...not only do you talk the talk, but you walk the walk. I have the deepest admiration for you and can't wait for Turner to learn lots of "lessons" from his Pops! I love you.

John, you're the purest definition of love. "Love is patient, Love is kind, It does not envy, it does not boast, It is not proud, It is not rude, It is not self-seeking, It is not easily angered, It keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never ends.
L o v e N e v e r F a i l s. "

1 Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8
John-Thank you for loving me unconditionally despite my many flaws. You are my best friend, my shoulder to cry on, my encourager, my snuggle bug, my gourmet chief, the definition of selflessness, the family leader, and a man after God’s own heart. You're an amazing father to our son. It has been so incredible to see the love in your eye's when you look at Turner. I love you more than I could ever describe.

Happy 1st Father's Day my love

Johnny-First of all thank you for being an awesome father in law any girl would dream of. You love me as if I am one of your own. But most importantly, thank you for being such an amazing role model and father to John. There is no doubt, John wouldn't be half the husband, father, and best friend he is if it wasn't for your influence on his life. Thank you for teaching him the importance of family, compassion, true love, honor, respect and living a God centered life.

Happy Father's Day!

A wild start to the weekend!

We have had a wild weekend! Friday night, Aunt CC and Eric came to town before they headed to the NE for vacation. So John and I took the chance to have a date night since they were here to babysit. We enjoyed a nice evening at the Moore Theater and saw Star Trek. I am by no means a Sci Fi fan but the movie was actually pretty good. And even if it wasn't, we got to indulge in a large buttered popcorn and Dr. Pepper. YUMMY!
On our way home, I called sis to check in and she said it had been an interesting night. First, poor little Turner cried nearly the 1st hour we were gone, and then the dogs went crazy at the back door. So Eric went outside to see what was out there...and was caught off guard when he saw a 4 ft black rat snake on our back porch! So he grabbed the water hose to attempt to get it away from the house and into the woods, but Mr. Snakey didn't have the same idea in mind. Instead, he crawled up the wall and got inside our built in grill. YIKES! Well it was nearly 10:00 pm when we got back to our house and John didn't dare do anything about it since it was already dark and that's when snakes are most active. So in true Chassidy fashion, I threw a fit and barely slept any and even had a silly dream about the darn snake. Once we got to bed the tornado sirens went off and because it was pouring rain and hailing, we opted not to go outside in the cellar but rather pile into our closet! Which Turner thought was fun.
After all that excitement, we finally managed to go to bed nearly at midnight!
Bright and early Saturday morning before I took Crystal and Eric to the airport, John and Eric went snake hunting. No snake in grill or the bottom cabinet...they were about to walk away when Crystal said, "You guys need to check the upper cabinets too." THANK GOD she said that because the snake had managed to coil up on top of the electric pump I use to blow up Turner's swimming pool. I would have had one HUGE surprise if they didn't. Below is the picture of Mr. Snakey slithering out of the cabinet...it went back into the grill but thanks to my brave hubby, the snake is gone for good if you catch my drift.
Yes John has some serious bed head. See Mr. Snakey on the far right ....
Saturday afternoon, we were blessed to speak at an adoption panel hosted by our adoption agency. It is always such a honor to share our adoption journey with other couples who are considering creating their family thru adoption too.

We LOVE bath time. Every once in a while, I catch him crawling into the guest bathroom and pulling up on the tub then clapping and squealing with delight :)

Turner is now able to get on and off of his Radio Flyer airplane. He is such a big boy.

Lexus and Turner have quiet the funny relationship. This week he has really started to "play" with her....wait, let me re-phrase...not sure if it is playing or "tormenting" Lexus. He will chase her around the entire house. She'll stop, turn around and start barking at him and he sits up and starts clapping and laughing. She doesn't think it is near as funny!
Turner and his toy Aunt CC got him. I think she's training him early to be a basket ball player.

More fun bath time pictures!
So modest...

I couldn't resist posting this picture...it makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. Such a sweet little face

We hope everyone has an amazing week.

God bless!

A letter to my baby boy

My dearest Turner, it is hard to fathom that 8 months ago on Saturday, we laid eyes on you for the very first time. I remember it like it was yesterday. Every second of that week from the Thursday we got the call that "C" had chosen us to be your forever mommy and daddy, to our crazy shopping spree on Friday and Saturday to get your room ready, to the drive to the hospital where I kept wiping tears from my eyes just so I could see the road, to the smell of your sweet little face. I even remember the song that was playing and how those words were just what I needed to hear. "Lord here we are bringing praises unto you, you are the one who is holy and we sing to delight you are King, you alone are God." Turner, you are everything we ever prayed for and so much more. We love every single inch of you from your gorgeous head of curls, to those long lavish eye lashes, to your big brown eyes, to your bright smile, to your hands that clap every time you hear music, to your chubby brown legs, to your little toes and everything in between. You are a constant reminder of God's love. My heart over flows with joy that I was chosen to be your mommy. I love you my precious little baby boy.
Can you tell I'm madly in love with my son?
Saturday we decided it was a perfect day to go to the zoo despite the 30 mile an hour wind! Believe it or not, once we got inside, the zoo it was awesome! Just enough of a breeze to keep it cool and the bugs off. Here are a few (ok several) pictures from our zoo visit. John got a hold of the camera this time, and I have to say, I think he is worse than me when it comes to taking a million pictures!
Here are only some of the animals we saw....

one HUGE rhino
and one long giraffe. The giraffes were our favorite!

and a pair of zebras

and a funny looking ostrich

not sure what these were but they look pretty cool!

and a Gorrilla

and a crocodile. Looks at those mean eyes!

and a Elk trying to stay out of the heat

Mommy & Turner in front of the Turner Falls replica

At the OKC zoo they have the coolest exhibit featuring animals found in Oklahoma..and believe it or not in Oklahoma you can find a big brown bear

and Bambi

and a Momma lion

and a Sleepy fox
and the BIG daddy lion

Hurry Mommy & Papa, lets go in the zoo !!

Turner has started eating solid foods now and loves to mash bananas in hands...not sure how much actually goes into his mouth. He has also tried strawberries, cheese, crackers, and cereal. So far so good. He has almost out grown his 6-9 months outfits. He weighs 20 lbs and 2 oz and 29 inches long. He is a busy little boy. He is crawling every where and trying so hard to walk by himself. He can take several steps if we hold onto is hands. He even stood all my him elf the other day without holding on to my finger. As each day comes and goes, it seems like he is doing something else new. It's so much fun :)
Here's a funny video of Turner playing with his sissy, Lexus! Enjoy
